Clusters of white blooms appear in late spring and are followed by abundant cranberry-like fruits that persist well into winter, providing an important food source for birds and wildlife. The attractive maple-like foliage turns shades of red and burgundy in fall, making this one of the most ornamental native shrubs for four-season landscapes. Growing 8–12 feet tall and wide, American Cranberry works beautifully as a wildlife hedge, privacy screen, shoreline planting, or specimen shrub.
