Clusters of ribbon-like yellow to copper-red flowers appear along the branches long before most other plants awaken, providing one of the earliest displays of color in the landscape. The blooms are lightly fragrant and especially welcome during the coldest months of the year. This multi-stemmed shrub develops a graceful, rounded form and attractive green foliage that turns shades of yellow and gold in fall. Growing 6–10 feet tall and wide, Vernal Witch Hazel makes an excellent specimen plant, foundation shrub, woodland edge planting, or four-season focal point.
