Seersucker Sedge is unlike any sedge you've met. Native to rich woodlands of eastern North America , this evergreen perennial sports broad, deeply puckered leaves that ripple across the plant like a piece of seersucker fabric. The texture is unmistakable, the color is a glossy, fresh green, and the overall effect is a shade-garden showstopper that does the heavy lifting where hostas struggle with deer . In early to mid spring, slender flowering stems rise above the foliage carrying small brown inflorescences that add a subtle, sculptural detail. But this plant is grown first and foremost for its foliage, which holds its rich green color from spring through winter and brings welcome texture to shady spots. At just 6-12 inches tall and 12 inches wide, Seersucker Sedge weaves easily into woodland borders, pond margins , or makes an unexpected groundcover beneath trees.
