Description
Swamp White Oak is a large, deciduous tree native to Ontario. It has thick, shiny green leaves that turn yellow in fall and produces sweet, edible acorns. They are also highly valuable to wildlife, providing food and shelter for birds and mammals as well as being the larval host for many different species of moths and butterflies. Swamp White Oak grows best in full sun with neutral to acidic, moist soils. It will tolerate seasonal flooding and dislikes drought.
