Description
Straight Talk® is a columnar variety of privet with glossy, dark green leaves. Its fast-growing nature and adaptability make it a great choice for beginner and experienced gardeners. We recommend removing any flowers that appear. Though they are attractive, the berries that form afterward are often eaten by birds and spread into forested areas, where they can crowd out native species. Many find their odour unpleasant, and they tend to make the shrub look messy and unattractive. Privets grow best in full to part sun and aren't fussy about what soil they grow in as long as it's not wet and/or poorly drained. Prune regularly to keep plants dense and prevent flowers from forming.
