The MA-3 is the mid tier of the line — more conductor runs per leg than the MA-1 or MA-2, adding signal transfer capacity and lowering noise floor without climbing into their upper-tier pricing. XLR at 2 feet is a cable for components that are literally adjacent — stacked components, or a preamp and amp with virtually no separation between them. The balanced termination provides common-mode noise rejection even at this short a run, which is worth having in a dense rack setup where components are close together and power supplies are nearby.
