Tall Bearded Iris: Russian River's seductive appeal captures the pleasure of taking in the wondrous view on its riverbank. Looking up, marvelous clouds, the color of Russian River's standards - soft-toned white with a breath of violet-burgundy. In front representing the falls - the splendid river, a much deeper and rich burgundy violet, influenced by the vineyards it flows through in California's Sonoma Valley. The long white beard, yellow in the back, is nestled in a white blaze. A gentle lavender border adds a satisfying touch of svelte poise. Illustrative of the steady hybridizing progress, 40 years ago our 1982 catalog did not have an iris this color -white standards, violet falls. Let's raise our glasses of Pinot and give a toast: To Russian River.
