Dendrobium 'Hibiki'

Dendrobium 'Hibiki'

ID: #692868

Description

Dendrobium ‘Hibiki’ is a compact and showy orchid hybrid resulting from Dendrobium bracteosum × Dendrobium laevifolium. It typically grows only about 10–15 cm tall and produces clusters of vivid pink to magenta flowers with contrasting orange lips. The blooms are long‑lasting and the plant is noted for being relatively easy to grow for a dendrobium hybrid. Short Care Guide Light: Provide bright, indirect light. A location with morning sun or strong filtered light is ideal; avoid harsh midday direct sun. Temperature: Intermediate to warm conditions are best: daytime ≈ 18–29 °C (65–85 °F), with cooler nights being beneficial. It does not require extremely cool winter rest. Watering & Humidity: During active growth, keep the media moist and allow it to begin drying slightly before watering again. In cooler or slower growth periods, reduce watering accordingly. Humidity around 50–70% with good airflow helps prevent problems. Potting Medium: Use a free‑draining, open mix (such as fine bark with perlite or similar) or mount the plant if desired. Avoid overly compact or water‑retentive media. Fertilizing: Use a balanced orchid fertilizer at half‑strength during active growth. Flush the medium occasionally to remove salt buildup. Blooming Tips: Good light plus a modest temperature drop at night often promote flower spike development. Mature plants may bloom frequently. Common Issues: Lack of blooms often stems from insufficient light; yellowing leaves may indicate overwatering or nutrient imbalance. Good root health and airflow are key.

Kiwi Bark

Kiwi Bark

$4.00

Kiwi bark's chunky texture makes for an excellent soil amendment! Kiwi bark has a slower decomposition rate and is less likely to rot compared to other wood. Because of this, large pieces such as these can help increase drainage and make soil not compact as much over time. It can also be used as a potting medium on it's own for some epiphytic species such as most orchids! 2 quart bag can roughly fill one and a half 6" diameter nursery pots. 1 quart bag can roughly fill one and a half 4" diameter nursery pots. All soil amendments ship in a biodegradable bag

Perlite

Perlite

$4.00

Perlite is the most commonly used additive for increasing soil drainage. It is volcanic glass that forms when glass literally pops like popcorn under super-heated temperatures. It is extremely light and porous! It works wonders on species like Begonias that like a fluffy, quickly draining soil mixture. This perlite in particular is an extra fine grade! 2 quart bag can roughly fill one and a half 6" diameter nursery pots. 1 quart bag can roughly fill one and a half 4" diameter nursery pots. Philodendron hederaceum

Philodendron hederaceum

$12.00

Philodendron hederaceum is known for its versatility and durability in a variety of different spaces. With the proper care, it can be a fast growing during the spring and summer making it perfect for hanging baskets! The baskets are especially cute due to the heart shaped foliage. Care: We recommend weekly waterings typically as the soil is 1"-2" dry for this size. This will also do best in a bright filtered light. Although this is sold often as a low light plant, our definition of low light is what the plant needs to survive. A source of natural light somewhere in the room will keep this plant sustained and thriving. Usually we say if you can read a book in the room without the light on during the day it's usually enough light for this one. All of our plants are ethically sourced from certified U.S. nurseries. We strongly condemn the poaching of plants or wild collection.
