Rhipsalis baccifera
ID: #693239
Description
Rhipsalis baccifera , commonly known as the mistletoe cactus, is a fascinating and unique species of cactus native to tropical and subtropical regions of Central and South America, as well as parts of Africa and Madagascar. Unlike many other cacti, Rhipsalis baccifera is epiphytic, meaning it naturally grows on trees or rocks, rather than in the soil, making it a perfect plant for hanging baskets or pots in an indoor setting. This cactus thrives in environments with high humidity and indirect light, making it well-suited for home decor. One of the most striking features of Rhipsalis baccifera is its trailing, bushy appearance. It has long, slender, green stems that hang down or cascade, giving it a soft, almost weeping effect. These stems are jointed and covered with tiny, white, hair-like structures, giving the plant a delicate texture. In the right conditions, Rhipsalis baccifera will bloom with small, white or cream-colored flowers that can appear at the ends of the stems, often followed by tiny, white berries, which is where the species name "baccifera" (meaning "berry-bearing") comes from. Rhipsalis baccifera prefers bright, indirect light, as direct sunlight can scorch its delicate stems. It thrives in environments with moderate to high humidity, so it's ideal for bathrooms or kitchens, or places where humidity can be easily controlled. The plant is relatively low-maintenance, requiring watering only when the soil dries out, and it does best when planted in a well-draining, light potting mix, such as one designed for orchids or succulents. Overwatering should be avoided, as the plant is susceptible to root rot.

Kiwi Bark
$4.00
Kiwi bark's chunky texture makes for an excellent soil amendment! Kiwi bark has a slower decomposition rate and is less likely to rot compared to other wood. Because of this, large pieces such as these can help increase drainage and make soil not compact as much over time. It can also be used as a potting medium on it's own for some epiphytic species such as most orchids! 2 quart bag can roughly fill one and a half 6" diameter nursery pots. 1 quart bag can roughly fill one and a half 4" diameter nursery pots. All soil amendments ship in a biodegradable bag

Perlite
$4.00
Perlite is the most commonly used additive for increasing soil drainage. It is volcanic glass that forms when glass literally pops like popcorn under super-heated temperatures. It is extremely light and porous! It works wonders on species like Begonias that like a fluffy, quickly draining soil mixture. This perlite in particular is an extra fine grade! 2 quart bag can roughly fill one and a half 6" diameter nursery pots. 1 quart bag can roughly fill one and a half 4" diameter nursery pots. All soil amendments ship in a biodegradable bag

Philodendron hederaceum
$12.00
Philodendron hederaceum is known for its versatility and durability in a variety of different spaces. With the proper care, it can be a fast growing during the spring and summer making it perfect for hanging baskets! The baskets are especially cute due to the heart shaped foliage. Care: We recommend weekly waterings typically as the soil is 1"-2" dry for this size. This will also do best in a bright filtered light. Although this is sold often as a low light plant, our definition of low light is what the plant needs to survive. A source of natural light somewhere in the room will keep this plant sustained and thriving. Usually we say if you can read a book in the room without the light on during the day it's usually enough light for this one. All of our plants are ethically sourced from certified U.S. nurseries. We strongly condemn the poaching of plants or wild collection.
