Drosera capensis ‘Sundew’

We are all big fans of carnivorous plants here at Arium! Drosera capensis is commonly known as Cape Sundew. If you have any flies or fungus gnats flying around your home, the sundews will surely catch them. Their tentacles are sticky, and once the flies stick to them they'll get stuck. In about 30 minutes or so their tentacles will fold over their prey. Care: Carnivorous plants do best when given a TON of light. They can handle some pretty intense direct sun! This is due to most species being native to bog habitats. They will need to stay consistently moist in the soil to also mimic a bog habitat! So you can either water as the soil starts to dry or even keep the plant in a saucer of water to ensure it does not dry out. If you choose to re-pot, do NOT use regular potting soil. Carnivorous plants need something that is going to be pretty void of nutrients as they get everything from the insects they eat. You can re-pot using 100% sphagnum moss or a soil mixture labeled for carnivorous plants. All of our plants are ethically sourced from certified U.S. nurseries. We strongly condemn the poaching of plants or wild collection.

Perlite is the most commonly used additive for increasing soil drainage. It is volcanic glass that forms when glass literally pops like popcorn under super-heated temperatures. It is extremely light and porous! It works wonders on species like Begonias that like a fluffy, quickly draining soil mixture. Philodendron hederaceum

Philodendron hederaceum is known for its versatility and durability in a variety of different spaces. With the proper care, it can be a fast growing during the spring and summer making it perfect for hanging baskets! The baskets are especially cute due to the heart shaped foliage. Care: We recommend weekly waterings typically as the soil is 1"-2" dry for this size. This will also do best in a bright filtered light. Although this is sold often as a low light plant, our definition of low light is what the plant needs to survive. A source of natural light somewhere in the room will keep this plant sustained and thriving. Usually we say if you can read a book in the room without the light on during the day it's usually enough light for this one. All of our plants are ethically sourced from certified U.S. nurseries. Terra-cotta Cylinder Planter

These are our favorite simple pots. We aren't the biggest fan of those plain old terra-cotta planters but these light peachy clay body makes for a modern look to traditional terra-cotta. We are suckers for the cylinder shape. Size options reflects the widths of the opening on the inside. Saucers are sold separately.
