Pleione 'Alishan' Native range: Himalayan region Known names: Peacock Orchid, Hardiness: USDA Zone 7 - 9 Mature Size: ~ 7" Tall, can spread as long as you allow it to spread. Light: Filtered light, really early morning sun. Water: Don't allow to dry completely during growing season, only water to moisten soil. Don't drench. Soil: Fast-draining organic mix, add sand, pumice, bark, etc. Dormancy Period: Winter Pet-Safe: No Plant Size: 4" pot. 2 pseudobulb per pot. Pleiones are predominantly terrestrial. They are known to be hardy orchids though winter protection is beneficial. It is best to keep Pleione orchids on the dryer end of things during winter when plant is dormant, though I know people keeping their plant exposed to the Pacific Northwest rain year round. The psudobulb produces around two offsets every year. Blooms starts around late March - May depending on your location.

Soil can dry out slightly. More drought-tolerant with age. Soil: Well draining mix but with moisture retention Dormancy Period: Winter Pet-Safe: No Plant Size: 2.5" pot (seedling) Zamia furfuracea and most other cycads have toxic seeds, luckily you probably won't see any seed development with this seedling for another 15+ years! You would also need male and female plants to create these toxic seeds. Stop worrying and enjoy! Zamia furfuraceas grow very slowly when young but can accelerate in growth with age. Best grown as a houseplant in areas that can experience freezing temperatures.

This Sempervivum is still pretty darn hard to get a hold of due to its [law-enforced] limit in propagation. This is the first Sempervivum that is mainly yellow and gold through most of the year! The colors change from fully red to stripe yellow/orange/gold/maroon through the growing season. A step away from your typical green and maroon Semps. Definately a must!

This Sundew is one of the most prolific Sundew I've ever encountered, it also grows as a perennial- forming hibernaculum in winter. Reseeds happily in mid-to-late summer (but seeds won't germinate until spring). We find ourselves accidentally grazing across the mucilage whenever we work with the bog. I wouldn't say this is a must-have but there's a pleasure seeing it sparkle every morning.

They are called "Yellow Pitchers" because their flower petals are a bit more yellow than other species. They are early-season growers but they seem to last longer than other early-season growers such as Sarracenia oreophillas. They a rhizome around 1 inches wide can fill up a 4" pot in a season. Like most temperate carnivorous plants. Keep your plant sitting in water (make sure that your water is very low in total dissolved solids; if not use distilled or R.O. water) When repotting used 1/2 pearlite and 1/2 peat moss (Can be found in most garden center) DO NOT use standard potting soil!
